Celebrating Jessica’s Bun in the Oven
Fieldwork San Leandro
Fieldwork in downtown San Leandro was a perfect venue to celebrate Jessica's Bun in the Oven baby shower, held in an outdoor atrium surrounded by picnic tables and fire pits. The atrium has roll-up doors that open the space for a more al fresco feel. Fieldwork is a brewery with a changing line-up of fresh beers and a full food menu of Neapolitan and Detroit style pizzas, salads, and small plates.
The color palette consisted of browns, creams and rust. For the floral design, I drew inspiration from these warm, earthy tones. The planner shared a mood board with the general idea of the floral vibe with me but I had creative freedom on the flowers. The only request made was to incorporate dahlias as this was Jessica’s favorite flower and luckily dahlias were in season.
Small compote arrangement
We settled on small compote arrangements and bud vases for the picnic tables. The small compote arrangements consisted of roses, dahlias, sedum, queen anne’s lace, ranunculus, pennycress and amaranthus. I added bunny tails for an added touch to the design. Since the picnic tables were long and slim, I needed the compote arrangements to be slim instead of fully rounded to ensure enough space for tableware. For the bud vases, I used chocolate brown and white cosmos to create an airy and delicate arrangement. I also used delphinium and plumosa on some of the bud vases to create height and depth. Overall, I loved how the florals turned out. The picnic tables were also decorated with baby blocks, baby books, and balloons. If you want to learn more about how I prepare for an event. I loved working with this warm and earthy color palette. It was refreshing to work with a unique color palette beyond the traditional pink and blue typically seen at baby showers.
